GEOCOMP Sewer Design provides automatic sewer design and drafting with user control. The module may be configured by the user to produce designs and output in accordance with the requirements of various authorities.
Quality control is the main concept behind GEOCOMP Sewer Design. This is achieved through a single file containing all information required for design and drawing production. This includes design parameters such as pipe diameters, grades and obstruction with attributes.
The design process involves the following four basic phases:
1. Parameter Establishment
Define all required parameters including the features to be considered as obstructions and their respective attributes including diameter and clearance. This task generally only needs to be performed once for any authority. For subsequent new designs the parameters of an earlier job are adopted. Individual parameters may be edited using menus and forms.
2. Data Creation
The property boundaries may be created in SDS or imported from a GIS. The proposed alignments for the sewers are established by joining the pits with a unique string commencing at the discharge point. Profiles along the sewer legs may be created from discrete points or extracted from a DTM.
Show up to four profile surfaces (existing, design and two reference surfaces such as rock and ground water).
Directly enter or import obstructions such as existing drains and water mains.
The points defining each parcel to be sewered are stored together with many other items of detail including category, contributing flow, cover requirement such as vehicle loading.
Property branch sewers are created for each parcel and linked to these details.
The design computation process is preceded by the network creation and profile integration. All obstructions within a nominated band width of each sewer are detected and stored against each pipe in the sewer file. A trial design is computed automatically and may be displayed in profile. Pipe size, grade, inverts and so on may be interactively changed.
Produces profile and plan plots.
Multi-sheet profile plots are created with each sheet number automatically allocated together with all title block information.
A printed schedule of pipe sizes, depths, lengths and costs is also automatically produced.
If the design is changed in any way, the plots and printed schedules are regenerated to reflect the latest design. Explore various design options simply by making design changes and recomputing the results.
