Installing Terramodel 9.7
Terramodel 9.7
requires Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP Home or XP Pro.
Previous versions for DOS, Unix and Windows 3.1 are no longer supported.
Detailed installation instructions are included in the Terramodel User's Guide, supplied with Terramodel.
To see the list of active modules, look under Help... About.
If Field Data is the only module listed, either:
In Field-Data-only mode, you can only view and measure project data and use the Raw Data Editor.
Once the dongle is found and activated, other modules will be listed.
If you are installing Terramodel 9.7 on Windows 95, 98 or Me the installation should be straight-forward. In the case of Windows 2000 or XP with Service Pack less than 4, you will get an error during installation.
The workaround is described here.
The default installation directory is C:\Spectra.
Don't worry if this is the same directory you used for Terramodel 9.6.
Terramodel 9.6 usually goes in C:\Spectra\Tmodwin whereas Terramodel 9.7 goes in C:\Spectra\Terramodel.
Terramodel 9.7 also creates C:\Spectra\Shared for Fonts, Blocks, and similar files.
The Geocomp Systems Data Collector Interface is installed into C:\Spectra\Shared\Geocomp.
We recommend that you install 9.7 in addition to any previous versions so that you can make the transition at your own pace.
We also recommend copying your prototype project and configuring 9.7 to locate it.
If you have made any changes to your Terramodel .ini files (e.g. you have set up colours or pens), you may want to copy these over too.
The new default .ini locations are C:spectra\Shared\P3server.ini, C:\Spectra\Terramodel\Tmodwin.ini
and C:\Spectra\Terramodel\Alias.ini.
Note that Terramodel has been upgraded somewhat since Terramodel 9.7.
If you intend to use the Geocomp Data Collector Interface with Terramodel, you will need DOS.
Windows 95, 98, NT and XP Professional include DOS as standard. Windows Me and XP Home have restricted DOS. For Windows 2000, DOS needs to be enabled during the initial installation.
You may need to rename data files including extensions.
Hiding of file extensions can be reversed in View.. Folder Options.
Folder Options may be hidden in Windows Me.
If you get error 57 or 76 while downloading or configuring, you may have a problem with your permissions or communications.
To download in the Geocomp Data Collector Interface, from data collectors other than Geodimeter, requires the device ANSI.SYS to be loaded.
This requires editing config files in Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000, and is practically impossible with Windows Me and XP Home.
See GCIMPORT on our TMLLIST for more details.
Spectra Precision Geodimeter Software Tools (SP GST) is not automatically installed with Terramodel, even though it may appear on the Terramodel File Menu.
