Installing Geocomp 10.07 on Windows 3.1 and 3.11

Verify that the host computer meets the hardware specifications. A minimum of 560 KB of free base memory and 7 MB free XMS is required to run Geocomp 10 to its full capacity.
Verify that the Geocomp dongle is embossed "Sentinel C Version B" or "Sentinel CplusB".
Modify DOS bootup files as follows:
- Select Run... from the File Menu in Program Manager
- Type SYSEDIT
- Select OK
- Edit C:\CONFIG.SYS to include at the top of the file:
```
device=c:\windows\himem.sys
device=c:\windows\emm386.exe noems ram
devicehigh=c:\dos\ansi.sys
dos=high,umb
shell=c:\dos\command.com /p /e:2048
buffers=50
files=50
```
- Also in C:\CONFIG.SYS, load other devices with devicehigh= to free up base memory
- Edit C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT as follows:
  - Load a mouse driver with a line such as
```
LH C:\GC10\EXTRAS\MOUSE.COM
```
  - Optionally, load DOSKEY with a line such as
```
LH C:\DOS\DOSKEY
```
  - Add the new line
```
PATH=C:\GC10;%PATH%
```
    near the end of the file before Windows is called
  - If you have a menu structure, adjust changes accordingly
- Modify C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI as follows:
  - Find the section headed
```
[NonWindowsApp]
```
  - Add to that section:
```
CommandEnvSize=2048
```
- Exit System Editor, saving changes to all files
Close Program Manager
Reboot the computer
Select Run... from the File Menu in Program Manager
Browse to select GC10-16.BAT from the \16bit directory of the Geocomp 10.07 CD. This will install Geocomp 10 to C: with the default directory structure. If you haven't got a CD, you will have to install on a PC that has, and copy the files over.

Install the patch by extracting from the zip using folder names. Extract to the root of the Geocomp software folder. For example, if your software folder is C:\GC10\, extract to C:\.

In Program Manager, create a Program Item with the following properties:
- Description: Geocomp 10
- Command line: C:\GC10\CFG\GC10-31.PIF
- Working Directory: C:\GC10\DATA
- Icon: C:\GC10\GC10.ICO
Run Geocomp 10 using the Program Item
